Somerset Safeguarding Adults Board

The events at Winterbourne View, as shown on the BBC Panorama programme, horrified all reasonable people. That vulnerable people should be treated so appallingly despite high levels of public money being spent, has raised public anxiety about what happens in all sorts of care settings, whether for elderly people, people who are mentally unwell or people who have a disability of some kind. Fortunately, the majority of care settings, whether hospitals or care homes, provide good quality care. The events at Winterbourne View have highlighted the importance of well co-ordinated efforts by all involved to ensure that good quality is maintained. It has also focused attention on the need for effective ways of identifying and addressing concerns in services. Click here to access the full report.

Care Focus has a meeting room available to hire for 12 people boardroom style or 25 people theatre style. With ample free parking and easy access to the M5 and the A38 our suite is available for half day hire at a cost of £70 or full day hire for £120. Keeping Safe in Your Own Home Brochure

We were delighted to secure a regional contract through the Joint Improvement Partnership and ADASS to produce a short guide for individuals purchasing their own care or support. Working with colleagues from Age UK, Compass Disability, Carers UK, Way Ahead Care and Skills for Care we were able to consult with a wide range of individuals including those in receipt of services, family members, carers and care and support workers.
